Batched margaritas
I know that some folks shy away from making cocktails for a group. It takes time, it can get messy, and the drinks usually disappear quickly. Damn! But my friend Jamie would bring batched negronis to our dinner parties. I thought wow what a time saver. Batched margaritas are a convenient way to serve several rounds of drinks. All that’s left to do is shake the mixture with ice and serve on the rocks with your favourite garnishes, and a salty rim (optional). If you’re a guest, remember how you’ll get treated when you bring this for the thirsty masses 😉
Before You Begin
From the wise words of Thirsty Whale – have some class and freeze your glass (glasses) to keep drinks cool. Nobody likes a warm cocktail. Make sure there’s plenty of ice at hand, to keep your drinks cool and for dilution. And surprise, quality tequila also makes a difference. I’ve been using Tromba Blanco and Patron Silver. Storage-wise, I like to keep the mixture in one or two of these. Enjoy right away, but it can last for up to a week refrigerated in an air-tight bottle (carrying a slight risk of oxidisation, which will impact the taste).
1. Funnel tequila, lime juice and agave into a glass bottle with a stopper. Shake to combine.
2. Refrigerate for up to a week.
3. To serve, simply shake 105 ml of the mixture with ice per person. Drain and serve on the rocks.
